Brides. Women. We have something with dresses.
One woman fantasizes her future wedding dress. Another resuscitates the flickering memories of a wedding dress she once wore. A third woman had already wed a son or a daughter. She shares the memories of her dress. They hold visions, real or fictional, of a wedding dress.

Within its folds – time unravels.

Before I got married, the dress was the first thing I thought of.
A fantasy in which I become the most beautiful and glamorous woman.
The day after, I awoke to my new and old realities.
The image of the previous day has vanished, like a Cinderella’s night.

A mirage.

Yet, I wasn’t ready to let go of my dream. My dream fulfilled has transformed to be the subject of yet another fantasy.

In this photography project want to engage the dark side of glamour, perfection, beauty, and whiteness.
The other side of excitement, commotion, and the halo surrounding the dress; The wedding dress.
I would like to make a statement that shatters a sparkly myth.
In my pictures I want to show the dirty, wet and imperfect side of the dress, to come to terms with fantasia.

I picked out-of-context locations and scenes: domestic work, bathroom, cleaning, a dip in a freezing cold lake, farm work, collecting fruit and feeding the animals.
These are not usual places to go to, and things to do, when dressed in your dream-dress.
Another aspect is the “life goes on” aspect. Excitement and overflowing emotions are followed by the mundane. Monotony. House, work, housework, children and husband. The wedding dress will always stay the same, a fantasy of fixed shape and color. The body is real and changing.

Of the women I direct, some are mothers. Some, their wedding was years ago. They are all excited to wear their memory - their dress - fitting or not, white or not.

Emotion naturally follows.
